Over the past 50 years, the area of ??Lake Chad - one of the largest reservoirs in Africa, where the waters play a key role in the lives of more than 30 million people in Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger and Chad - was reduced by 90%. According to scientists, with the pace lake is completely dry up in 20 years. In 1963, the lake area is 25 thousand square kilometers. To date, it takes only 2,5 thousand square kilometers, ITAR-TASS. One main reason is climate change, which led to the shallowing the main water arteries that feed the reservoir - Central Chari and Logone rivers. It involves water transfer with the help of a giant channel of the river Oubangui - the largest tributary of the Congo, most full-flowing river of Africa - toward a tributary of the Chari River Chad.
