British agents in the desert

Many places in the desert of Wadi Rum is associated with Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888 - 1935), scholar, writer, and an officer, who before World War I led archaeological excavations in the Middle East. Better known as Lawrence of Arabia, the agent of British intelligence is largely involved in the Great Arab Revolt (1916 - 1918). He led numerous operations, including attacks on the trains. Wadi Rum, also known as Moon Valley, was one of those places where Edward Lawrence and Prince Faisal had their own base. Their history is described in Lawrence published in 1926 and translated into many languages, the book "Seven Pillars of Wisdom", was filmed 36 years later by David Lin in the film "Lawrence of Arabia."
