Venetian palace equip escalators

One of the historic buildings of Venice - Fondaco dei Tedeschi, built in the XVI century, not far from the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal - will become a trade center. Commissioned by the owners of the palazzo - the company Benetton - it will transform the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas (Rem Koolhaas). Reconstruction project worth 20 million euros has been agreed with the authorities in Venice. According to the project, the courtyard of the building and galleries will be exhibition space, and access to it will be open even during those hours when the mall is not working. Visitors can see frescoes by Giorgione and Titian, which adorned the walls palazzo. Unusual for Venice will compound galleries outdoor escalators. This will be the first such escalators in the city, reports The Art Newspaper. (
