A unique exhibition of Renoir opens in the Prado

In Madrid Prado Museum on Oct. 19 will open the exhibition "Passion for Renoir. Collection of the Institute of Art Sterling and Francine Clark" (Pasion por Renoir. La coleccion del Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute). Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) - one of the most prominent representatives of impressionism whose works were admired by his contemporaries. In the Prado you will see the artist's 1931 work - the best examples of the unique collection of Robert Sterling Clark (1877-1956), founder of the Institute of Art. It is noteworthy that the exposition will be the first monographic exhibition of Renoir in Spain. The funds of the Institute kept an impressive collection of Impressionist, which Sterling and Francine Clark collected over four decades. Among them - 35 paintings by Renoir, among which are some of the most important of his works. This collection will be showcased for the first time outside institute almost entirely. Exposition will cover four main periods of the artist from 1874 to 1900 and introduces visitors to the key motif of his works - a portrait, female figure, nude, landscape, still life and flowers. The exhibition will run until February 6, according to the museum site.
