With the advent of the euro in Estonia will rise slightly fines

As you know, from 1 January 2011 the national currency of Estonia is the euro. Already, price tags in stores and restaurants are published in two currencies. Among the changes that await visitors and residents with the beginning of next year - an increase of fines for ticketless travel on public transport or traffic violations. This is explained by the fact that one penalty unit, it is 60 kroons (3.83 euros at present), based on the Euro-currency will be rounded up to 4 euros. Officials of the Ministry of Finance, is actively promoting the transition to the euro, believe that the principles of fair pricing for goods and services is not contrary to rounding. Penalty unit under the law must be flat sum, but to round it downwards can not be said novosti.err.ee. The Union taxpayers support this view and believe that the rounding of the penalty unit to pocket a respectable citizen would have no effect, and the competent authorities - on the contrary, facilitate the work. We add that a penalty unit is not equal to a finite sum of the fine - it only allows to calculate the amount of money violators. In particular, now the penalty for ticketless travel in Estonia is 600 euros - is 38 euros. Thus, after rounding off a fine will increase by 2 euros.
