The archaeological excavations carried out in Petra, prove that Nabatiyeh were familiar with the basics of hydraulics and hydraulic engineering. Beating around the springs provide water to only a small number of inhabitants. Intensive development of the city and the accompanying increase in population forced the Nabataeans built a system of aqueducts and reservoirs. Even today on the slopes of the Siq can be seen carved into the rocks, water - the gutter, in which water flowed from the dam, which accumulate rainwater. A sewer pipe and the remains of terracotta water pipes visible along the walls from outside the valley.
