Reserve Shavmari lies a few kilometers south of Al - Azraq. It created the right conditions for life of animals and birds that are endangered: ostriches, gazelles, antelopes and others. Also implementing a program for breeding oryx, species, almost entirely exterminated by hunting, which was conducted in 1960 - ies. Currently, the livestock population of two hundred individuals, of which several dozen have been fired at will in the desert of Wadi Rum.
