Since mid-October in Croatia, on the eastern coast of Istria, in the town of Lovran (Lovran) and the surrounding villages Ligan (Liganj) and Dobrech (Dobrec), held a traditional festival of chestnuts Marunada. Celebrations of the local mean chestnuts, would begin first in Lovran - from 15 to 17 October and then will continue on October 23-24 in Ligane and October 30-31 in Dobreche, according to tourist office of Kvarner. Chestnuts from Lovran considered among the best in the world. Special kind of growing in this region, was obtained by crossing the local species of chestnuts with fruit, brought by sailors from distant wanderings. Guests of the festival, as usual, will be able to enjoy not only the traditional roasted chestnuts and dishes made from these fruits - the various sweets and pastries, but try the wine and mead. In Lovran celebration takes place on the square Brajdice and is accompanied by performances of folklore groups, brass bands and popular artists.
