The government of Spanish autonomous Basque country supported a bill banning smoking in public places. In the case of adoption of the law, it shall enter into force on 1 January 2011. In accordance with the document, smoking will be banned in all public places without exception: in restaurants and bars, hotels, shopping centers, playgrounds and sports grounds, indoor stadiums, educational institutions and in the car if the child is in the cabin. Thus, the bill of the Basque Country will be more stringent than a similar national law then in force in Spain since 2005. Violators of regulations face fines from 3000 to 600 000 euros, and the public institution where allow smoking, may be temporarily closed, reports RIA Novosti.
