Vast, sun-scorched Syrian desert stretches to the east of Amman towards Iraq and Saudi Arabia. It may seem that its barren landscapes do not involve life. However, as shown by archaeological excavations, some 500 thousand years ago people lived here. They left behind a flint implements. But not these remains astound most. Much more striking desert palaces built by the rulers of the Umayyad dynasty in VII-VIII centuries. They can enjoy traveling from Amman to the east to Al - Azraq and back. In the vast desert grow up the walls and towers of the abandoned castles. To this day, know what purpose they were erected in a totally deserted places. Some artificial oases surrounded with fruit trees, gardens and zoos. Probably they were a refuge for the rulers and their entourage during the spoilers, the big cities of epidemics. To date is not known how it was actually one thing is certain, they should see.
