Smartphones beat Google in the tourist market

The report of experts on global trends, WTM (Global Trends Report), made in conjunction with Euromonitor international, are projected to increase the influence of smartphone manufacturers in the European tourism market, while search engines will retreat into the background. Such devices as the iPhone and applications developed for it, already heard by a revolution in the travel industry: Consumers are increasingly looking for travel information required with applications for smartphones, mobile browsers and social networks like Facebook. Studies on the use of smart phones in order to travel (Smartphone Travel Usage Research) for 2010, conducted compete.com, show that 34% of users are using your device looking for information about the trip, 29% - learning about the availability of tickets, and 25% of booked seats to stay. Projected to Euromonitor International, by 2015 50% of European travelers will use your smartphone to search for relevant information and reservations. By 2014 the number of smartphones in Europe will reach 92% of the total volume of mobile phones, and using the mobile browser will also take up the access to the Internet using a standard browser on a PC. Thus, manufacturers of smart phones can take a leading position in the market, surpassing Google and other search engines. In addition, the European Commission has promised to affect the question of lowering prices for international roaming, if the mobile service providers will not do it themselves. After all, high prices for roaming prevent further spread of the active smartphones.
