Pedestrians in Estonia are required to wear reflectors

January 1, 2011 in Estonia enters into force a new law on road traffic. According to a document from this day on all road users, but they include and pedestrians in the dark will be required to wear reflectors. Estonian police have for years urged pedestrians to wear reflectors. Monthly in the dark is about 10 accidents involving pedestrians. In accordance with the January 2005 agreement, the Department of Highways gave the police 50 000 reflectors for free distribution among the population, according to DELFI. "The retro-reflectors need not be ashamed, hang his own side '- advised the High Commissioner of Traffic Inspection Service Tonis Sulu. Nevertheless, the level of voluntary action was not successful. The country's population exceeds 1.3 million and 50 thousand free reflectors do not solve the situation with the accident. Since January, the traffic police is planning to severely punish the pedestrians who do not have "reflector or light source in the case of poor visibility or at night while driving on the road."
