Henceforth, the governments of Curacao and Sint Maarten will have more powers and be able to dispose of tax revenue, and the Netherlands Government, in turn, will serve as the defensive function, and defines the foreign policy of the new countries. Both new states are popular tourist destinations, and hence the income from tourism constitute a significant part of the treasury.
