Lisbon authorities intend to charge tourists two taxes

Mayor of Lisbon, proposed a two taxes for tourists coming to the capital of Portugal. Travelers will have to pay extra for entrance into the city and for staying in it. The first tax of 1 euro is supposed to charge tourists to enter the city, regardless of the mode of transport which they come. Second tax guests have to pay for hotels for each night stay in addition to the cost of accommodation. The amount of tax when staying at the hotel will be 1.9 euros, in a hostel - 20 cents. Thus, the mayor intends to raise additional funds that will aim to develop the tourism industry Greater Lisbon. Based on data from tourism statistics for 2009, thanks to tax authorities hope to attract to the state an additional 13 million euro, informs RIA Novosti news agency.
