Alcohol in Lithuania on Sept. 1 will not be sold

September 1 - the only day of the year, when Lithuania is prohibited sale of alcohol in retail trade companies: shops, kiosks and petrol stations. Buy liquor can only be the restaurants and bars. Three years ago, Lithuania was trying to completely eliminate the sale of alcoholic beverages on the day of knowledge, but later restrictions were lifted, and drink in places catering is still possible, according to DELFI.lt. The large-scale battle with alcoholism in Lithuania is a long time. Last year, here joined by a ban on the sale of alcohol from 22.00 to 8.00. However, writes the local press, in fact, the ban applies only in shopping malls and gas stations and small shops turned into bars, selling alcohol at any time of day. In Latvia, the MPs also proposed to prohibit the sale of alcohol on September 1. But this initiative did not support President Valdis Zatlers, saying that the night restrictions on trade is quite enough. In Estonia, the specific prohibitions on September 1, is not provided, however, municipalities may establish their own. For example, in Tallinn since 2000, prohibited sale of alcoholic drinks after 19.00, and the prohibition extends even to the night clubs, licensed to trade in alcohol.
